TOURIST-ORIENTED TRAINS

VOUGA HISTORICAL TRAIN
The historic train on the Vouga Line dates back to the first half of the 20th century and traverses the only remaining narrow-gauge Portuguese railway track, on a journey from Aveiro to Macinhata do Vouga and a visit to the historical center of Águeda on the way back.

One-day program, with animation on board by a group of music and traditional songs from the region and proof of the famous pastels of Águeda. Upon arrival at Macinhata do Vouga, visit the Railway Museum with the possibility of tasting or purchasing regional products. Return with a stop and visit the historical center of Águeda, famous for the famous The Umbrella Sky.

The city of Aveiro privileges for easy access from the north, the center and the south, with discounts on trips in Alfa Pendular, Intercity, Regional/InterRegional and Urban of Oporto for the trip in the historical train.

GRAPE HARVEST FESTIVAL
As a celebration of the grape harvest, there is nothing better than to learn all about the tradition and take part in wine-making in the. You are guaranteed to have a good harvest, lots of fun and festivities on a stunning journey between Oporto and Pinhão.

One-day programme travelling on a special train between Oporto Campanhã/ Pinhão and Régua/Oporto Campanhã.

Arrival at Pinhão Station, transfer by bus to Quinta da Avessada, with popular music and tasting some regional delicacies such as the traditional bread and meat cake.

If you want to participate in the grape harvest, buckets and scissors will be provided and you will be given a brief summary about the grapes, the region’s history and some traditions related to the harvest.

Then you’ll have a regional lunch. In the afternoon visit to the cellars and early grape treading (“{lagarada}”), with the entertainment of traditional Douro singers followed by liqueur tasting in the Enoteca space.

At the end of the day, return to Régua Station where you will have the special train to Oporto Campanhã.

AVIEIROS CIRCUIT
Come on a river cruise and discover the long-lost arts of river fishing and the beauty of this forgotten part of Ribatejo. Enjoy the surprising scenery, unique vegetation, amazing horses, white cranes, sea birds, water hens kingfishers and osprey.

One-day programme between Lisbon Oriente station or Tomar/Reguengo and back. Arrival at Reguengo station, transfer to Valada do Ribatejo, to catch the boat.

Boat trip on the Tagus – bird watching on the river, Ilha das Garças (crane island), Barreira das Andorinhas (Swallow reef) and watching of kites, ospreys, bee-eaters and other species.

A glass of local wine. Disembark and a guided visit to the village of Escaroupim and the Fishermen’s Museum.

Stop for lunch (not included) at “Escaroupim” restaurant or a picnic at the Valada do Ribatejo picnic site. Board to return to Valada and a transfer back to Reguengo station.

BEIRA BAIXA’S OLIVE OIL CIRCUIT
The Beira Baixa’s Olive oil circuit is a tourist program based on a tradition of the region of Beira Baixa, olive harvesting and the process of olive oil production.

Beginning in Lisbon towards Rodão, from where a lively one-day program takes place, which includes, among other activities, a Boat trip and lunch on board and a visit to Tojeira’s Olive Grove with possible olive picking, depending on the climate conditions.

ALMOND BLOSSOM CIRCUIT
This magnificent journey crosses the huge Douro region, up to Pocinho, where the green backdrop is speckled with the almond trees in bloom, on a circuit back through time and local traditions.

Special trains from Oporto Campanhã to Pocinho and back. From Pocinho there is a choice of three road circuits that include guided tours to museums, monuments and overwhelming landscapes of the region of Trás-os-Montes.

CHERRY BLOSSOM CIRCUIT
It is at the beginning of Spring that the cherry blossom conquers the Serra da Gardunha, in an admirable white robe of flowers appealing to the senses.

One-day program, departing from Lisbon towards Fundão, where the tour starts with a guide to Alcongosta, for a visit in a tourist train through the Cherry Trees in Blossom. After free lunch, a visit to Vila de Alpedrinha, a beautiful location, and a tour with a guide for a visit through Castelo Novo Historical Village and a local product tasting. This is one of the 12 Historical Villages of Portugal, a village from the 13th century.

FUNDÃO CHERRY CIRCUIT
At the foot of the imposing Gardunha hills, Fundão has the perfect conditions for growing cherries and we can take you to visit the orchards in fruit and the charming historical villages in the region.

One-day programme, leaving Lisbon for Castelo Branco at the morning, returning at the end of the day. Reception by the local guide, visit to the Traditional Cheese Factory of Quinta do Pomar and the center of Fundão. Lunch at the restaurant “Dom Vicente”. Shuttle to Aldeia Nova do Cabo to visit the cherry orchards, with the possibility of buying cherries.

RIA FORMOSA CIRCUIT
The Ria Formosa circuit begins at Lisbon or Pinhal Novo.

Adventure along trails that are as stunning as they are filled with history. Smell the sea breeze and enjoy the sand dunes, marshes, salt pans and streams.

Welcome reception at Faro station, followed by a walking tour of the historical centre of Faro. Visit to Faro Municipal Museum, Town Arch, Town hall, outside of the cathedral and episcopal palace. Break for lunch (not included in the programme) followed by a traditional boat trip through the Ria Formosa channels lasting two hours.

DOURO HISTORICAL TRAIN
Riding on the historical train is like travelling back in time.

The route runs along the bank of the river Douro, with a 1925 steam engine and 5 historical carriages being hauled by Steam Engine 0186, which was built in 1925 by Henschel & Son and that run between Régua and Tua, on a unique trip back into the past through beautiful landscape that is classified by UNESCO as World Heritage.

One-day programme leaving Régua (and returning) with a stop at Pinhão, and then on to Tua and back. On-board entertainment with regional singers and musicians and a toast with a glass of Porto Ferreira. You can also try the Régua candies, a tradition for everyone who comes to this part of Portugal.

HISTORICAL VILLAGE CIRCUIT
Travel by train along the river Tagus and delight in the natural beauty of the Beira Baixa region. Visit the villages of Penha Garcia and Monsanto and enjoy everything this region has to offer.

One day programme, Lisboa/Castelo Branco and Castelo Branco/Lisboa journey. Arrival at Castelo Branco station with welcome coffee, bus trip to visit the Hotel Boavista restaurant in Termas de Monfortinho. Departure to Penha Garcia and Monsanto to visit the villages.

Snack in the village of Relva (sausages, bread, jam, cheese, ham, wine, juice and water). Return to Castelo Branco station bound for Lisbon.

CONVENT OF CHRIST AND NATIONAL RAILWAY MUSEUM
One-day programme with a visit to the Convent of Christ in Tomar and the National Railway Museum in Entroncamento.

The Convent of Christ, headquarters of the religious and military orders, is one of the largest convents in Europe. Its main cloister is a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture and it offers a wide range of guided tours covering different topics.

The National Railway Museum cares for a legacy of 160 years of history and covers and area of 4.5 hectares with 19 railway lines.

RÓDÃO CIRCUIT
Enjoy the scenery of the Beira Baixa line along the banks of the Tagus to Ródão.

Get ready to go walking or just enjoying some good Portuguese food.

Visit of King Wamba’s castle and to the ‘Portas de Ródão view point.

Lunch at the ‘Vila Portuguesa’ Restaurant, at Cais de Rodão. After, you can enjoy the ‘Portas de Ródão’ National Natural Monument and see the vast colony of griffins, among other species, conhal do arneiro, fishermen island and the virtues fountain.

At the end, visit Vila Velha de Ródão archaeology museum and the Varas de Rodão Mill or/and the CIAR (Interpretation Centre of Rock Art of Vale do Tejo and Museum of Archeology).

TOMAR CIRCUIT
A trip to the town of Tomar takes us back to the times of the Knights Templar and their medieval urbanism.

One day programme, leaving Lisbon for Tomar and back. At Tomar you have a guided walking tour of the historical town centre (visit to the Match Museum, pottery, synagogue, church of St. John the Baptist, contemporary art centre and/or chapel of Santa Iria). Stop for a regional lunch. Trip on the Tomar road train with a visit to Pegões aqueduct, the Templars’ Castle and the Convent of Christ. Free time to wander round the town.
